Inspections & observations
Use this for non-interval items: PCV suction, coolant residue, brake pad thickness, tyre tread depth, DSG scan summary, any noises. These do not reset a service interval — they build a trend over time.

Immediate actions (do first) ›
- Audit the 8 Apr 2026 job card. Confirm exactly what was replaced — brake fluid, filters, software updates, DSG adaptation are often quietly skipped.
- Run a VIN recall check on Skoda India's official portal and the SIAM recall database. Slavia units built 24 May 2024 – 1 Apr 2025 had a rear-seatbelt recall; a 2025 campaign covered additional seatbelt assemblies.
- Save a baseline VAG scan. On DQ200 cars, early fault-code trends matter more than waiting for a full failure.
- Start a logbook (this app): oil top-ups, coolant level, tyre pressures, DSG behaviour when cold/hot, every new noise.
Known failures & prevention›
DQ200 mechatronics pressure-loss. The big one. Pressure-accumulator housing plate cracking over time. Early: mild low-speed jerkiness, hard shifts. Later: flashing gear indicator, stuck-in-gear, restart-to-recover. Do not keep driving for weeks — secondary clutch/pump/gear damage follows. Independent repair ~₹40k–₹85k; dealer assembly can hit ~₹2L.
DQ200 clutch wear. Real but not automatic. Seen anywhere 35k → 130k+ km, most replacements cluster 60–100k. Warning signs: hot-city reverse judder, 1→2 shudder when hot, clunky low-speed downshifts. Budget ₹60k–₹1L (more if DMF also done).
TCU / connector heat & corrosion. Unpredictable shifting, "short to ground" faults, selector errors. Prevention: catch leaks early, charging health, don't ignore sporadic transmission warnings. Use a proper VAG specialist, not a generic auto shop.
Low-rpm cold-start jerk. Known 1.5 TSI theme; TSBs point to ECU adaptation. If it appears: confirm ECU + gearbox software current, then adaptations. Avoid lugging 1,200–1,800 rpm when cold.
PCV / oil-separator failure. Easy to miss, cheap to catch. Whistle, rough idle, unusual oil use, oily intake plumbing, lean mixture, seal seepage. A weak PCV creates bigger downstream problems.
Thermostat / water-pump housing seepage. Classic EA211 nuisance. Slow coolant loss, dried residue, low-coolant warning without a puddle. Inspect for residue every service — replace the assembly on any leak, don't just clamp.
Intake-valve carbon build-up. Direct-injection reality. Symptoms later: rough idle, misfires, flat feel. Best prevention: short oil intervals, healthy PCV, good fuel, regular hot running. Real fix if needed: walnut blasting, not tank additives.
EVAP / N80 purge-valve. Can mimic mixture/idle issues. P0441 is not unusual on 1.5 TSI. Hard start after refuelling, rough idle, fuel smell, CEL.
AC cool-down in peak summer, rattles, premature brake wear are common Indian niggles. For AC: up-to-date software/calibration, fresh cabin filter, clean condenser, recirculation after initial purge, windshield sunshade.
Care routine›
Daily
- Park in shade; windshield sunshade when possible.
- Spot-clean bird droppings, tree sap, bug remains same day with quick-detail spray + clean microfiber.
- 30-second visual: coolant residue, oil drips, tyre cuts, warning lights.
Weekly
- Wash only on cool panels, in shade. Wheels & tyres first with separate tools.
- Two-bucket wash (rinse + shampoo), microfiber mitt, top to bottom. Dry with plush microfiber, not chamois.
- Clean glass inside and out. Vacuum mats, carpets. Wipe interior with a dedicated interior cleaner — no household cleaners.
Monthly
- Cold tyre pressures, tread depth, spare / repair kit, washer fluid, engine oil, coolant, battery terminals.
- Clean door shuts, boot gutter, cowl drains, wheel arches.
- Monsoon: underbody rinse every 2–4 weeks if you drive through mud / standing water.
Quarterly
- Wax or sealant every 3–4 months. Clay only if paint feels rough after washing.
- Clean and lightly protect rubber door seals. Inspect wiper blades before monsoon.
Yearly
- Pre-monsoon AC + drain inspection, condenser clean, cabin sanitization, underbody inspection.
- Deeper interior clean — ventilated seat perforations, carpets.
Ownership kit (checklist)›
Long-term timeline (15,000 km/yr projection)›
- Now · 15,000 km · 18 Apr 2026 — Audit 8 Apr invoice, VIN recall check, baseline VAG scan, record tyres/pads/fluids.

- 150,000 km · 8 Apr 2035 — Deep suspension refresh, intake-valve carbon eval if symptoms.
- 200,000 km · ~Aug 2038 — Next plug / DSG / brake-fluid / tyre cycle, second hose review.
Quick rules›
- Odometer trigger wins over calendar trigger. Whichever comes first.
- Keep 1 litre of the exact engine oil shown on the engine-bay sticker or prescribed by VIN.
- No aftermarket oil additives.
- DQ200 habits: minimize creeping; don't hold the car on throttle on slopes — use brake or auto-hold at long stops.
- Warm engine at idle: PCV should show slight suction at the oil-filler cap — not zero, not an aggressive whistle.
- Fuel filter: don't schedule blindly. Annual fuel-trim + rail-pressure check, reputable fuel, optional high-detergent cleaner every second oil change.
